LORELEI designed and developed the prototype of “Foneydia – the sonic bed” for the Italian wellness manufacturer Hypnos.
The client request was to design a sonic experience for the bed customers, an experience able to convey and amplify the relaxing sensation given by the particular bed structure.
We worked on a double level: the sound design and the sound diffusion system. Both aspects had “relaxation” as the main goal. On one side, we worked with brainwave entrainment and infrasound to produce a sound content really able to relax the listener. The result is a soundscape apparently composed by relaxing sounds, but also containing Alpha waves that help our brain to relax, accompanying the customer towards sleep. On the other side, the sound diffusion system uses transducers instead of traditional speakers, so as to transform the bed structure itself into a wooden sonic board. The sound is diffused via smooth vibrations all over the bed structure, to convey an immerse sensation of sound.
